Atif Islam is a materials engineer and research fellow at the Robinson Research Institute, Victoria University of Wellington. His research focuses on advanced materials, nanotechnology, and magnetic thin films for next-generation sensing and memory devices. Atif completed his PhD in Materials Engineering at Victoria University of Wellington, where he worked on voltage-tunable magnetoresistive sensors.
He has published several peer-reviewed papers and presented his work at international conferences, including the IEEE Magnetics Conferences in Taiwan, United States and the Global Young Scientists Summit in Singapore. Atif’s research interests extend to sustainability-driven innovation and the translation of scientific research into industry applications.
Beyond research, Atif has held leadership roles, including serving as President of the Victoria Pakistan Students Association, and is passionate about community engagement and professional development within New Zealand’s scientific and engineering sectors.
