Daniel Gallen leads Phillip Riley’s New Zealand operations as Country Director, with teams based in Wellington and Auckland. He works across the New Zealand energy sector, partnering with consultants, utilities, and developers on technical, engineering (T&D, Generation, Renewables), and executive search projects. 

Daniel brings 25 years of business experience, including 17 years in recruitment across the Engineering, Energy, and Oil & Gas industries. His career has focused on hiring technical professionals, giving him a deep technical understanding of the power system and an extensive national and global network of specialists.

His ability to interpret company cultures and match them with the right talent has been shaped by years of hands-on experience — learning from both successes and challenges along the way. Daniel is known for his honest, direct approach and his commitment to open communication.

Daniel is passionate about New Zealand’s energy future and strongly advocates for the contribution skilled migrants make to the sector. He believes that diverse expertise and global experience are essential to building a resilient, future-ready workforce for Aotearoa.
